This page is not about getting your own licence from the city

This page covers driving for Uber and Bolt under the Cabvibe licence. It does not explain how to obtain your own taxi licence from the city council or a transport licence for carrying goods — those are separate procedures for business owners. If you simply want to carry passengers from the apps, you do not need a licence of your own: an extract from ours is enough.

The licence stays with us, the extract travels with your car

A passenger transport licence is a permit held by a company. Every car working under it gets its own licence extract (wypis z licencji): it stays in the car, and it is the document you show during a roadside check. One car, one extract. Uber and Bolt do not settle with a driver who has no passenger transport licence, so you drive on an extract from our licence while we open and run your accounts in both apps.

No licence of your own, no business registration

You do not register a business (działalność), file an application with the authorities or wait for a decision. Settlements run under our licence — once a week, and you keep the cash from rides every day. The car can be your own or one from our fleet.

The licence decides in which cities you may legally carry passengers. On an extract from our licence you start rides in any of these cities, and you may also drop a passenger off outside the zone. What working under our licence costs

On your own car we charge only 80 zł per week. On top of that comes VAT on transport services at the 8% rate — a tax we pay to the tax office, not our earnings. Apart from those two items, everything left after the Uber and Bolt commission is yours. You pay nothing for onboarding or for handling your paperwork. If you drive a fleet car, the rental comes on top — the rates are on the rental page.

What you pay for yourself

Our work on the paperwork is included. You only pay what goes to the authorities, doctors and translators:

• official fees — for example the court fee for a criminal record certificate, 30 zł
• medical and psychological examinations — the cost depends on the facility
• translations of documents, if you need them

How to start — 4 steps

• 1. Application — your name and phone number; we call back within 15 minutes during working hours.
• 2. Conversation — we check the car and the documents and tell you straight away what is missing.
• 3. Paperwork — the licence extract for your car and onboarding to Uber and Bolt.
• 4. Start — you drive whenever it suits you.

Your own taxi licence — when it makes sense

Your own passenger transport licence is issued by the authorities — the city mayor or the district head where your company is registered. To get one, you register a business, file an application, wait for the decision and pay for the licence and for every extract. A classic taxi also means a cash register and your own bookkeeping. That route makes sense if you plan your own fleet. If you just want to drive for Uber and Bolt, an extract from a partner's licence is enough.

Questions about the taxi licence

• Do I need my own taxi licence to drive for Uber and Bolt?

  No. You drive on an extract from our licence, and we arrange the extract. We hold 18 licences for 18 cities in Silesia.

• Can I drive without registering a business?

  Yes. Settlements run under our licence, so you do not need a company of your own.

• How much does a taxi licence cost with you?

  You do not buy a licence — you drive on ours. On your own car you pay us 80 zł per week plus 8% VAT on transport services, which we pay to the tax office. Official fees, medical checks and translations you pay yourself.

• Can I drive for Uber or Bolt without a licence?

  No. The Road Transport Act requires a driver to carry the licence or an extract from it and to present it on demand. Carrying passengers without a licence is not a traffic ticket but an administrative fine — both the driver and the company they drive for are exposed.

• What is the difference between a licence and a licence extract?

  The licence is the company's permit and stays in its files. An extract is issued for a specific car: it stays in the vehicle, and it is the document you show during a check. One car, one extract.

• In which cities can I drive on your extract?

  In 18 cities in Silesia: Katowice, Sosnowiec, Mysłowice, Tychy, Mikołów, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Będzin, Czeladź, Siemianowice Śląskie, Chorzów, Bytom, Świętochłowice, Ożarowice, Piekary Śląskie, Ruda Śląska, Zabrze, Gliwice and Tarnowskie Góry. You start rides where the licence applies; you may drop a passenger off outside the zone.

• Can I get an extract for my own car?

  Yes, if the car was built in 2010 or later, has 5 seats, is in good technical condition and has a valid roadworthiness test and OC insurance. We arrange the extract for your car — without it you cannot legally carry passengers.

• How long before I can start driving?

  If your documents are complete, a few days. If you need to exchange your driving licence or sort out your residence status, a few weeks. We give you the real timeline in the first conversation.

• Do I have to come to the office?

  Yes, once: the law requires the intermediary to verify the driver in person. The office is in Katowice at ul. Mariacka 36. Everything else is handled remotely.
